Who We Are & How We Work
Here is what makes the Virtual Pharmacist approach different, built on practising-pharmacist expertise and consistent governance.
Visionary Leadership
In Castleford in 2021, Clinical Director and pharmacist Laura Billyard founded Virtual Pharmacist with Luke Billyard, a software architect. The aim: bring clinical and technical work together to make remote pharmacist services consistent and well-governed.
1
Uncompromising Clinical Standards
Virtual Pharmacist was created to fix a real problem in primary care: inconsistent, poorly-governed remote pharmacy services. We place independent pharmacists with established accreditations into practices, and our work is governed by safety first.
2
Powered by Purpose-Built Technology
We back the service with quality systems and workflows. Our governance platform, SPARK, plus our review tools MedReviewAI and Doc4Doc, deliver audit-ready reporting and consistent patient safety checks.
3
A National Network of Expertise
Virtual Pharmacist runs as a national network rather than a single clinician. Our 100+ pharmacists and 200+ GP practices share what works, workflow improvements and safety lessons feed back into the service.
4
Shaped to Each Practice
We take time to understand each practice we work with. Rather than ask practices to fit our model, we adapt the service to fit them. A responsive head office team backs the work, the result is a practical partnership focused on patient safety and GP workloads.

“The team is consistently reliable. Phones are always answered and emails come back the same day. It’s made a real difference to how we run our medication reviews.”
Clinical Director, North West PCN
“Fast email replies and always there when we need clinical input. The pharmacists fit straight into the team and just get on with the work.”
PCN Manager, Yorkshire PCN
“Excellent service from start to finish. Easy to reach, quick to reply, and they clearly know NHS workflows inside out. We couldn’t recommend the team more highly.”
