What is DSQS?
The Dispensary Services Quality Scheme (DSQS) is a voluntary programme to help ensure that dispensing practices are committed to providing quality and professional care for their dispensing patients.
Those enrolled on the scheme must give reassurance that they are providing this quality practice by demonstrating their compliance. Payment is subject to the practice meeting the scheme’s participation, evidence and claim requirements. Audit support contributes to that evidence; it does not by itself establish entitlement to payment.
How many dispensing patients are reviewed for the audit?

Do you review medication safety as part of DSQS audits?
Yes, we check for any medication interactions, duplications, monitoring gaps, inappropriate repeats, and high-risk medicines.
For any missing monitoring, we request blood tests, escalate safety issues, and ensure appropriate follow-up for the patient from the practice.
What evidence do practices receive, and will it support our DSQS claim?
Our DSQS audit output sets out the agreed methodology, findings, actions taken and outstanding issues. Practices can use it alongside their other records when assessing the requirements for a DSQS claim.
The practice should check the evidence against current DSQS requirements before submitting a claim. Audit documentation alone does not establish payment eligibility.
